When I began wargaming, in 1960, there was no commercially available wargaming terrain. We had to make our own basic scenery, although trees and buildings were available from model railway manufacturers. By the time that one could buy a whole range of terrain, I had enough of my own to stick with my system.
I have set up the following sub-pages to cover this system.
Natural terrain – fields, rivers, hills and woods.
Communications – roads, bridges and fords
Cultivation – ploughed fields, vineyards and olive groves.
Buildings – houses and walls.
Fortifications – Vauban fortifications, castles and siege works.
